BIOGRAPHY

AMAGUK is an ambitious power-trio driven by their shared passion for creating innovative music. They work seamlessly together to create powerful compositions that blend jazz, punk, D&B, and Mediterranean-influenced sounds, resulting in an inimitable and unique sound somewhere between King Crimson, Jojo Mayer, and Black Midi. Their hard work and commitment to their music have led them to leave their home countries of Spain, Italy, and Greece to make a new home in Rotterdam.

In 2019, the band released their first EP Amaguk, followed by their first album Resilient Forest in 2021, which they presented with beautiful merchandise. They are set to release a second EP, recorded live in February 2023, and record their second album by the end of the year. These highly anticipated works are sure to showcase  their continued growth and evolution as musicians. Over the last few years, they have independently organised tours in London, Spain, Greece, Berlin, and the Netherlands and performed at important international festivals such as North Sea Jazz, WOMAD, and Music Meeting among many others. In 2019, they were awarded as Best Soloists of the Erasmus Jazz Prize.

Massimiliano Dosoli, born in 1991 in Ostiglia, Italy, discovered his music passion at 13 with the electric guitar. He studied at the Ferrara Conservatory, then switched to clarinet, inspired by Eric Dolphy. Completing his bachelor's at Siena Jazz Academy, he played with renowned musicians. After studying composition in the Netherlands, he participated in the Amsterdam Opera and Ballet's OFF 2021 project. Leading bands like Superposthardbop, he founded the Plankton Orchestra in 2020, inviting Yamandu Costa for a Rotterdam concert. Since April 2022, he's in the punk jazz band AMAGUK, touring Europe.

Alex grew up in a small island in Greece called Aegina. At the age of 14, he got inspired from his pianist friend Yannis and started tapping on things to accompany him while improvising. He always had the urge to communicate the way he experiences the laws of nature but poetry or philosophy didn't work out for him. He ended up sticking with percussion as his ultimate vehicle of expression. Studying in Dutch conservatories made him realise he's a misfit in academia. That helped him find other misfits like Daniel Denis and Alba who he bonded with to create AMAGUK.

At the age of 10 Daniel Denis started taking piano lessons at a small music school in his hometown Madrid. At the age of 13 he would develop a passion for drawing and painting that would take him away from the music. It wasn't until the age of 17 when he started a deeper and more passionate relationship with music. This time with the electric guitar and the electric bass. At first, strongly influenced by bands such as The Who, Led Zeppelin, or Frank Zappa he would make his first steps with different bands from the capital. A growing love for jazz and world music would eventually make him leave Spain to study jazz in the Netherlands.
